Your guide to volunteer roles, perks, expectations, and how to join the Crew.

How can I sign up for a volunteer position at Sound Camp?

Submit the Volunteer Application. Be sure to fully complete the form and include any relevant documents, links, and/or media. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

What are the requirements to volunteer at Sound Camp?

Volunteers must:

âž  Be 18 years of age or older

âž  Have reliable transportation

âž  Submit a brief work history summary, including three professional references in their application

âž  Commit to completing all assigned shifts (most roles require a minimum of 8-12 hours across the weekend

Early Arrival may be required for some teams. Please review team descriptions when selecting your preference.

Do I need previous volunteer experience? 

Not necessarily. Experience helps, but we welcome first-time volunteers who bring enthusiasm and reliability. Some roles may prioritize applicants with relevant skills.

What volunteer positions are available? Can I choose my team?

You can indicate you preferred team in your application, and we'll do our best to accommodate your request. Final placement is based on your experience, availability, and the festival's operational needs. Some roles require specialized skills or longer commitments, so flexibility is appreciated.

Sound Camp offers positions on the following teams: 

➤ Box Office: Ideal for friendly, organized people who enjoy helping others and can stay calm during busy check-in periods. Great for muti-taskers with good communication skills. 

Schedule Dates: September 25-28, 2025

Responsibilities include:

âž  Wristband pickup and scanning

âž  Guest list management

âž  Festival and campground check-in

âž  Answering attendee questions

➤ Green Team: Ideal for eco-conscious volunteers who care about leave-no-trace values and are happy to help keep the grounds fresh. Great for team players who bring good vibes and aren't afraid of gloves.

Schedule Dates: September 25-29, 2025

Responsibilities include:

âž  Maintaining trash, recycling, and compost zones

âž  Restocking porta potties (toilet paper, soap, etc.)

âž  Light site sweeps during event hours

âž  Overnight grounds sweep after close

➤ Safety Support: Ideal for calm, observant individuals with great communication skills. Prior experience in harm reduction, first aid, or festival safety is a plus—but not required.

Schedule Dates: September 24-29, 2025

Responsibilities include:

âž  Assisting the core safety team with monitoring public spaces

âž  Supporting guest well-being and de-escalation efforts

âž  Helping direct attendees to medical, security, or info services

âž  Reporting hazards, injuries, or emergencies to appropriate team(s)

âž  Patrolling camp, festival, and parking zones for safety concerns

âž  Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all 

➤ Build/Strike Crew: Ideal for physically capable, reliable folks who like working with their hands. Perfect for early arrivers and late leavers who want a behind-the-scenes experience and don't mind sweaty. 

Schedule Dates: September 23-24, 2025 (Build); September 29-30, 2025 (Strike)

Responsibilities include:

âž  Site setup and breakdown

âž  Lifting, loading, and building (power tool use may be required)

âž  Assisting production crew with festival infrastructure

➤ Stage Operations: Ideal for punctual, detail-oriented folks who love music and can stay focused in high-energy environments. Experience with live production or stage work is a big plus. 

Schedule Dates: September 25-29, 2025

Responsibilities include:

âž  Supporting stage managers, sound team, and lighting crew

âž  Assisting with artist check-ins, changeovers, and schedule

âž  helping maintain stage flow and safety

➤ Artist Hospitality: Ideal for warm, organized humans who love supporting creative people. Great for those who can stay calm under pressure and communicate clearly with both artists and staff. 

Schedule Dates: September 25-29, 2025

Responsibilities include:

âž  Assisting artists with check-in and setup

âž  Managing artist lodging and green room access

âž  Helping with ground transport and/or artist parking

âž  Work directly with Stage Operations to ensure smooth transfers

âž  Supporting artists and their guests throughout the weekend

âž  Acting as point-of-contact between artists and Sound Camp Director of Artist Hospitality

Can I choose my shift times? 

We aim to match shifts with the availability listed in your application, but shift times are determined by team placement. Please take this into consideration when selected your preferred role.

Can I leave early if I finish my shifts assigned tasks?

Volunteers on standard teams may leave after completing all assigned shift tasks only if released by their team lead. Volunteers on Build/Strike, Stage Ops, or Artist Hospitality must stay through their assigned departure dates. 

​

What's expected of volunteers?

Volunteers are expected to: 

âž  Show up on time and ready to work

âž  Be positive, reliable, and team-oriented

âž  Support guests, artists, performers, and fellow crew members

As a grassroots festival, Sound Camp depends on our volunteers. Your adaptability and commitment are what makes the magic happen.

What perks do I get for volunteering? 

Volunteers receive: 

âž  A comped ticket

âž  Early Arrival access (if required by your team)

âž  Access to the staff camping area (tent not provided)

You're welcome to camp with friends in GA or Elevated Camping, as long as your group doesn't exceed the campsites footprint and holds a valid GA or Elevated Camping Pass. 

Note: Volunteers who abandon their shifts or fail to complete assignments will have their status and perks revoked and may be asked to leave the event.

Can I volunteer with my friend/partner? 

We'll do our best to assign you to the same team or shift. Be sure to mention their name on your application. Exact pairings are not guaranteed. 

​

Do I need to attend volunteer training? 

Yes, all volunteers are required to: 

âž  Attend a pre-festival online orientation call 

âž  Check-in with their on-site team lead before their first shift

Failure to complete orientation or check-in may result in removal from your role and loss of all associated perks. 

​

What if I have a medical or accessibility need?

Please include this in your application. We'll do our best to place you in a role that accommodates your needs safely and respectfully.
